Established in 1997, Collytown stud is situated on the picturesque border of Devon and Cornwall and is home to over a hundred registered pedigree shetland ponies of miniature size, the majority between 28 to 32 inches (excluding our ridden shetlands). With herds of excellent pedigree and bloodlines boasting a variety of both broken and solid colour we are proudly producing homebred stock of quality and substance.

Breeding ponies with correct confirmation and exceptional free movement, we pride ourselves on our shetlands being friendly, easy to handle and a pleasure to own.

Our ponies are shown successfully both In Hand & Under Saddle and are exported Worldwide.

Awards evening

BHS & NVQ qualified along with holding a National Certificate in the Management of Horses, we have years of experience and offer the very best care and facilities for visiting mares with or without foal at foot.

For expectant mares we offer a Foaling Down Service with specialist Breeder Alert Foaling Alarms used as standard.

Collytown Stud reguarly hosts Equine Vet Talks, Horsemanship demonstrations and Riding Club activities and is also available for private hire, please contact us for more details.

Therapy Ponies

Offering unique experiences with gentle, affectionate miniature ponies that actually travel out and go inside settings or Residential/Care Homes (even visiting individual bedrooms!) spreading love and happiness to all they meet.  Alternatively visit them at the beautiful and tranquil therapy centre for a more personal Equine Assisted Therapy experience surrounded by stunning countryside ~ take some time to enjoy the peace & serenity while interacting with the wonderful ponies that are making such a positive difference to so many lives.
Animals, especially horses are known to offer major therapeutic benefits to people of all ages but especially for those with poor mobility, co-ordination, partially sighted or who suffer from depression, anxiety or have learning difficulties. Horses being intuitive animals are able to read and respond to the emotions of the people around them. Non confrontational by nature, our ponies have very kind & gentle temperaments making them ideal for older people or those with autism or challenging behaviour.

Visits Out

Our ponies travel to wherever they are needed most. Due to their small size the ponies are able to go into hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, schools and nurseries.

Farm Visits

We welcome individuals or groups to our approved facilities here at Collytown, home to over 100 miniature Shetland ponies.

Meet the Ponies

It’s amazing to be accepted into a herd of ponies and to be able to sit among mares and foals grazing or lying in the sun.

We are delighted to be able to bring them to the people that need them most. This can be to a pre-school, school or other educational setting, organisations that work with the mentally or physically disabled and to care settings (hospitals, nursing homes etc). The ponies have arrive in style in their own horsebox. They are fitted with specially designed tabards, with integral ‘oops a daisy bags’, so you need not worry about any “little presents” being left as a memento of our visit!
As Qualified Equine Assisted Therapists & Certified Advanced Equine Facilitated Practitioners we also offer Equine Therapy Sessions from our Centre – a recognised & growing form of therapy which offers a broad spectrum of benefits especially beneficial for people suffering from depression or trauma.

We also love to have groups visit us on the farm for Easter Egg Hunts, or educational visits, look out for us as country fairs and trade events.
